Girl Talk: Laura Mercier Medium Deep TLSP
What's the 411 Hon? Laura Mercier Medium Deep TLSP.
I received the TLSP Medium Deep complimentary for review purposes.
The Youtube reviews that are currently popping up are basically saying the same thing, that for most part, the Medium Deep setting powder is too dark to use as an under eye setting powder, and they would be absolutely correct.
So the question is, "What is a Setting Powder?" According to the Laura Mercier website, "Laura uses setting powder to set foundation and prolong its wear, so she applies it after foundation, concealer, and camouflage, and before applying powder-based colour...Normal setting powders aren't ideal around eyes, so use Secret Brightening Powder for Under Eyes in that area." So basically, woman of color have been using the original translucent setting powder as the brightening powder because there was never a shade formulated for darker skin tones.
I must admit, when I tapped the powder into the lid, my first thought was that it is too warm for me, but to my surprise it blended my foundation to a flawless finish with no flash back! Since, the Medium Deep powder matches my skin tone, I will be using it as an all over setting powder. This powder is just as smooth and silky as the rest of the Laura Mercier TSLPs, and no, it did not settle into my fine lines or pores and doesn't look cakey. Medium Deep is too dark for brightening my under eye area. Mixing the original and the medium deep is a solution to brighten your under eye just a bit, but I am a fan of the original TLSP so, I will continue to use the original as my under eye brightening powder. This shade will make an excellent eye brightener for my clients that have a deeper complexion with red undertones. I swirled the the provided puff into the lid and rubbed the puff together to make sure the powder doesn't leave patchy areas as I apply it. I used the suggested press and roll method to achieve a photoready finish, with no flash back, and no caking
I agree, the average WOC will use this shade as either a setting powder, for those on the lighter side of the spectrum, or an eye brightener, for those on the deeper end of the spectrum. Well thanks goodness, Laura Mercier and Influenster have listened to our concerns for a TLSP for deeper tones. I, personally, give the NEW Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder in Medium Deep a thumbs up! I recommend this product.
